there will be plenty around over here but they're not a daily driver when you spend around $100K+ when you include conversion/import fees/freight/cost of car in U.S.

Not at all. Many more Ferarris and Porsches and Lamborghinis.
We're not treated to good value sports cars over here. Your choices are limited to an SS commodore (soon to be dead) for something quick which isn't $100k plus

There's plenty of people DD'ing German cars worth far more, but it's different when you buy it from a dealer with warranty, paint protection etc.
